Lecturer of English wanted

The Language Centre of the Otto-Friedrich-Universität Bamberg invites applications for the following post, which begins on 1 October 2014 and is limited to a two-year contract:

Lecturer of English Language ,100 %, remunerated on the 13 TV-L pay scale.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties: 

  • Language instruction (18  45-minute lesson units per week) within the scope of the English for Students of all Faculties programme (for example, ERASMUS students or doctoral candidates) as well as imparting general linguistic competence in the field of Academic English
  • Design, preparation and development of instruction and examination materials
  • Conducting language tests for University of Bamberg students wishing to study abroad

Key requirements for employment include:

  • competence as a native speaker of English
  • a completed university degree (preferably with a background in linguistics)
  • good German skills
  • appropriate teaching experience
  • the ability to work both independently, when required, or, more usually, as part of a team.

A qualification in Teaching English as a Foreign Language and knowledge of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and its implications for teaching and examinations are desirable.
